Who we are

Slates is a Mac app made by Miguel Dovale. This policy covers the Slates app and this website. “We” and “us” mean Miguel Dovale.

The app collects nothing

Slates does not include analytics, usage tracking, crash-reporting services, advertising, or any third-party SDK that phones home. It does not send your text, settings, or anything about how you use it to us. There is no account to create.

macOS has its own setting for sharing crash and usage data with app developers, in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. If you have turned that on, Apple may pass anonymous reports along to developers. That is Apple’s system and your choice; Slates adds nothing to it.

Where your slates live

Stored locally by default; optional iCloud sync.

• On your Mac. Slates keeps your slates in its Application Support folder, along with automatic backup snapshots you can turn off in Settings → Data.
• In your iCloud account, only if you opt in. iCloud sync is off until you turn it on in Settings → Data. When it is on, your slates are stored in the app’s iCloud Documents folder so your other Macs can see them. That data goes between your Macs and Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. We cannot read it.

Backup files you save with File → Save Backup… go wherever you put them.

If you email support

If you write to mikedovale@pm.me, we use your address and message only to reply. We do not add you to a list, share your email, or use it for anything else.

This website

This site has no analytics, no cookies, no trackers, and no third-party scripts, fonts, or embeds. We add no logs or measurement of our own.

The demos on the Features page run only in your browser. Text you type there, and any palette you try, is never sent anywhere and is forgotten when you leave the page. The Copy buttons write to your clipboard only when you press them.

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. As part of serving pages, GitHub may log request metadata such as your IP address for security purposes. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.

Children

Slates is not directed at children under 13. Since the app and this site collect no personal information, we do not knowingly collect any from children.

Changes to this policy

If how Slates handles data changes, this page changes before the app update that does it ships. The date at the top shows the latest version.
